BERLIN DECLARATION
Eduard Hellvig, MEPI see the Europe of the XXIst century as an united environment of consolidated spaces: economy, policy making, security and defence, and last but not least, communication. An European milieu in which we all - individuals, officials and institutions - have to cooperate and communicate continuously and efficiently. On “what” we do and “why” we do it. Only by being active and responsible, we will be able to make Europe part of us. In this way we will be able to approach effectively the threats and challenges of the new century and to strengthen our personal and European security.

GERMAN PRESIDENCY

The success of the German E.U. Presidency is unquestionable. By unblocking the Constitutional Treaty, it has succeeded to push the construction of the European Union in a new phase.

A phase that is based on the achievements of the last 50 years, but which is intended to face the challenges of the future. The internal and external reforms stipulated in the Reform Treaty are meant to give the European Union the opportunity not only to become more efficient in its internal decision making-process, as an enlarged organization, but also to be a more active and important player on the international arena, in a globalized world.

As it was been written in the Berlin Declaration, “we, the citizens of Europe have united for the better”. With every enlargement, since 1957, we, the citizens of Europe, have become part of the EU’s construction and we have made of its construction part of our lives. From 2007 on, we are given the chance and should, for us and for the future generations, to deepen and strengthen the model of an European society, in all its economic, social, and political dimensions.
